Your First Visit
Your initial appointment will consist of a comprehensive consultation where Dr. Brown explains your diagnosis and all available treatment options. In some cases, treatment can begin the same day — though complex medical histories or treatment plans may require a follow-up appointment.
Patients under 18 years of age must be accompanied by a parent or guardian for their first consultation appointment. Please also inform us prior to your visit of any medical conditions (diabetes, heart conditions, joint replacements, blood thinners, etc.) or medications that may affect your treatment.
- We accept new patients age 10 and older; for younger children we're happy to refer you to a trusted paediatric dentist
- Valid photo ID — a government-issued photo ID such as a driver's license or passport
- Dental insurance card & forms — bring your insurance card and any completed patient registration forms to speed up processing and help us maximize your benefits
- Current medication list — a complete list of all medications, supplements, and vitamins you currently take, including dosages; this is essential for your safety
- Recent dental X-rays (if available) — if your previous dentist has taken X-rays within the last 6 months, request they be forwarded to our office or bring them with you
- Referral slip (if applicable) — if you were referred by another provider, please bring the referral slip or documentation

Your first visit includes a comprehensive exam, digital X-rays, gum assessment, and oral cancer screening. Dr. Brown will discuss your dental history, concerns, and goals — then create a personalised treatment plan.

- Written treatment estimates — we always provide a written estimate of expected costs, including insurance coverage and anticipated patient responsibility, before any procedure begins; we never start treatment without your informed consent
- Cancellation policy — please provide at least 24 hours notice to cancel or reschedule; repeated no-shows without notice may result in a cancellation fee

Marshall H. Brown, DDS & Associates is fully HIPAA compliant. We protect your health information through encrypted electronic health records and communication systems, strict staff training in HIPAA privacy and security requirements, access controls limiting who can view your records to those involved in your care, written authorization required before sharing your information with any third party, and secure disposal of all paper and electronic records containing PHI.
What is your cancellation policy?
We kindly ask for a minimum of 24 hours notice if you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment. This allows us to offer your appointment time to another patient in need of care. Repeated last-minute cancellations or no-shows without notice may result in a cancellation fee.
